Gold is the chat’s own currency. You earn it free just for being in a room, you can top it up if you want to, and you spend it on gifts, extra photo slots and the games. Here is how all of it works.

What is gold, and what is it for?
It is the chat’s own currency — it has no cash value and cannot be withdrawn. You spend it on virtual gifts for other chatters, extra photo gallery slots on your profile, and the games. VIP members can also spend it to change their username.
How do you earn it?
Simply by being in a chat room. You earn 1 gold every 3 minutes just for being there. If you are VIP you earn the same gold faster — 1 gold every 2 minutes. You never have to buy any: everything gold unlocks can be reached on gold you earned free.
How do you buy it?
Inside the chat window. Open the three-dashed menu at the top left of the chat and choose Buy Gold. Purchases are instant — your balance updates the moment the card clears.

The bigger the pack, the more bonus gold comes with it.
Gifts and sharing
There are gifts running from 50 gold up to 50,000. A gift sits in the receiver’s profile for everyone to see, so it is as much a public compliment as a present.
Sending a gift, or sharing gold
Open the person’s profile, click the horizontal three-dash menu at the top right, and pick the option you want. You can hand over gold directly as well as send a gift.
Seeing what someone has been given
Open their profile and click the Gifts tab. For the leaderboard, open the top-left three-dash menu and choose Top Gift Recipients.
The games
Gold is also what you stake in the chat’s own games. They open in a panel over the chat, so you never leave the room you are in — and you can play on gold you earned for free.
